Partner Profile - Poland

Poland participates in the project as one of the recruiting centers and also as the main laboratory center responsible for analysing the urine and blood samples coming from other four countries.

The head of Polish team is Jerzy Socha,  Professor of Paediatrics and Gastroenterology (Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Immunology in Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warszawa). His research interest is in metabolism, nutrition, hepatology, liver transplantation, gastrointestinal diseases in children and prevention of diseases by vaccination and nutritional education. Assistant Prof Piotr Socha is responsible for laboratory part of the study together with Dr Roman Janas carrying all the chemical analysis. The priceless member of our group is our dietician Anna Stolarczyk.

Everyday contact with children and their parents is coordinated by Dr Dariusz Gruszfeld and Prof Anna Dobrzańska (the head of Neonatal Department in Children’s Memorial) together with pediatricians working in the department.

The recruitment of planned number of children wouldn’t be possible without the great help of many pediatricians from outpatient clinics and maternity hospitals in Warszawa (special thanks to Neonatal Departments from Karowa, Żelazna and Inflancka Hospitals).
